Practice Korean out loud.

Speech levels, particles, and patience.

Korean speech levels (반말 vs 존댓말) are the silent test in every conversation — the difference between a friend's tone and a stranger's, and getting it wrong with a real person costs you.

What you'll actually be saying

Here's how each scenario opens in Korean. Pick whichever fits your day, or describe your own topic.

Open chat

A friendly buddy. Talk about whatever you want.

어, 잘 지냈어? 오늘 무슨 얘기하고 싶어?

At the café

Order coffee and pastries. The barista chats with you.

안녕하세요! 뭐 드릴까요?

Chatty neighbor

Small talk with a chatty neighbor in the elevator.

어, 안녕하세요! 오늘 어떻게 지내요?

Job interview

Junior tech role. Formal register — practice the polite forms.

안녕하세요. 와 주셔서 감사합니다. 오시는 길은 괜찮으셨어요?

Asking directions

You're a tourist asking a busy local for directions.

네, 무슨 일이세요?

Dinner with friends

Casual chat about weekend plans, gossip, what shows you're watching.

야, 토요일에 결국 뭐 했어?

Why Korean is hard to speak fluently.

Korean particles (은/는, 이/가, 을/를) and SOV word order require restructuring entire sentences in your head. The honorific system means picking the right verb ending for every interlocutor. Reading romanization doesn't prepare you for either.

Glauda lets you practice both registers in different scenarios — café (반말 acceptable) vs interview (존댓말 required) — without offending a real person while you're still learning the difference.

From A1 to C2 — your level, no cramming up.

Glauda speaks at the level you pick. The bot uses simpler vocabulary and shorter sentences at A1, and full native cadence at C2.

Common questions about practicing Korean.

When does Glauda use 반말 vs 존댓말?

반말 in the Open Chat and Dinner scenarios; 존댓말 in formal ones (Job Interview, Café service, asking Directions). Custom topics default to 반말 unless you set formality to formal.

Will Glauda teach me Hanja or just Hangul?

Glauda is voice-only — Hangul shows in transcripts. Hanja is not currently surfaced.

I'm preparing for TOPIK. Is this useful?

For the speaking sections, yes — practicing real-time response in Korean is exactly what TOPIK speaking measures. The CEFR-to-TOPIK aliases in the level picker map cleanly to TOPIK 1-6.
